The Schulte family homesteaded a farm north of Alva, Oklahoma, almost on the Kansas State Line. The family is long gone leaving an island of abandoned farm buildings, a windmill and trees surrounded by tilled wheat land. On this cold day the sky and ground were nearly the same shade of white. |  |
